Pool Cleaners

At least half of the residential pool owners in the US have pool cleaners.  The most common types of pool cleaners are the suction-side pool cleaners, the pressure-side pool cleaners, and the robotic pool cleaners.  The domestic market for suction-side cleaners covers almost 50 percent of all pool cleaner types. This is because suction-side pool cleaners are the most affordable. The pressure-side cleaners comprise 40 percent of the market. Only 10 percent of the market is covered by robotic cleaners since they are relatively expensive. The popularity of pool cleaners has increased the research and development of the product. This led to the sprouting of a number of pool cleaner manufacturers.

Suction-side, pressure-side, and the robotic cleaners

The differences between the suction-side, the pressure-side, and the robotic pool cleaners are in the way they clean and what they can clean.  All these pool cleaners can clean independently, with or without the use of a remote control.  Most models use only a simple switch to turn them on. They are submerged into the water and are left to do their work.

The suction-side pool cleaner sweeps and scrubs the surface of the walls and floors to loosen the grime and organic matter in the pool.  The pool’s filter filters out all the gathered and loosened matter.  A suction-side cleaner cannot work without a pool filter because it has no self-filtering capabilities.  This pool cleaner is ideal for areas close to the beach where sand can get into the pool.  It does not work well in areas where a lot of pine cones and leaves drop to the pool. The price of a suction-side pool cleaner ranges from $170 to $500.

A pressure-side cleaner can work independently even without the pool filter.  It has a vacuum suction that can filter big matter like leaves and pine cones.  It uses its own filter bag to deposit grime, organic matter, and foreign objects. The price of a pressure-side cleaner, ranges from $230 to $500.

A robotic pool cleaner is the most advanced and intelligent all-in-one pool cleaner.  It has scanning capabilities that can determine the best way to clean the pool according to its dimensions.  It does everything from filtering, surface cleaning, to cleaning the pool’s filter. It saves on time, money, energy, and chemicals.  A robotic cleaner is worth $899 to $1,400.
