Sta Rite 300 Pool Filters

Sta Rite 300 pool filters are part of Sta Rite's innovative line of swimming pool filters, which are known for being their efficiency and low-maintenance system. They are designed to withstand environments normally considered harmful to pool filters, such as high water density, excessive dirt, or harsh weather conditions like storms or hail.

Sta Rite 300 pool filters come in three general types, depending on the mechanism that does the filtering. These are sand filters, cartridges or paper filters, and diatomaceous earth (DE). Each one is equally effective, but there are major differences in power consumption and maintenance costs.

The first Sta Rite 300 pool filters was of the sand filter type. They work by filtering particles from the water as it gets stirred around, either by the users' natural paddling movements or by a separate motor. The particles are sucked into a separate tube as the water enters the tank. They can effectively filter particles down to 40 microns – about the size of a grain of sand, hence the name. These filters can be used both at home and in public pools. The three most popular Sta Rite 300 pool filters of this type are the System 3, Cristal Flo, and HPRB Series filters.

Some Sta Rite 300 pool filters also make use of the cartridge system, which filters out dirt using fine paper filters. They can filter out finer particles than sand, but you will have to replace the paper filters every two to four years. Also, they cannot be used for semi-public pools such as those in condominiums and hotels. However, they are a great choice for home pools, especially since they are simple to maintain and easy to repair. The Posi-Flo filter leads Sta Rite's line of cartridge filters, carrying four models that vary in coverage area from 50 to 135 square feet.

A relatively new addition to the Sta Rite 300 pool filters line is the DE type, which works by passing water through a coating of tiny sponges. This coating is designed to absorb dirt and release clean water. Sta Rite's DE filters provide the best filtration capacity, filtering out particles as small as five microns. They work best for small to medium residential pools. Bigger units can work for public pools, but public DE filters are prohibited in some states. They can be a little expensive – a basic one will cost you around $700 – but they will outlast your sand or cartridge filter by years, and the only maintenance you have to do is take it to your dealer once a year for cleaning. Sta Rite 300 pool filter carries three lines of DE filters: System 3, PLD, and DEPB, which can cover from 37 to 72 square feet, depending on the model.
