Pool Fences

Pool fences are important swimming pool safety equipment. The most common materials used for making pool fences are metal tubing, treated wood, and plastic sheeting.

Precautions

Pool fences are tested for their durability and level of protection. The spaces between the panels of the pool fences should not be wide enough for small children to sneak through them. They should also be high enough to prevent the children from climbing over. Also, the panels should not break when forced apart. They should not be too easy to dislodge. In Australia, pool fences are subjected to more than 150 Newtons of force–the equivalent of a medium-sized tropical storm—to test their durability.

In Arizona, the regulations governing swimming pool fences are just as stringent. The fences must be made of panels of material that cannot be climbed over. They must be locked or latched, and they should not be lower than four and a half feet from the ground. The openings between fence panels should not be more than four inches wide, and fences must be five feet or more in height. The gates of pool fences should open outward to prevent them from being a hazard while in the pool.

Vinyl pool fence

Several companies manufacture vinyl pool fences. Vinyl is one of the most preferred fencing materials because unlike metal, it does not rust. It does not deform even in prolonged exposure to the sun. It also does not rot. Vinyl pool fences are sold by the foot, and they can be customized to fit any pool shape.

The USA Vinyl Fence Company offers several different vinyl pool fence models. The Neptune model is easy to assemble and install, and it features a midrail. Each fence panel is notched. The panels are extremely difficult to remove when the they are inserted into the posts. The Neptune model is available in white and tan. It costs less than $11 per linear foot.

A Vinyl Fence and Deck Company, Inc. also offers different designs for vinyl fences. Its Baron model has pickets that are three inches wide. The spacing between the pickets is less than four inches, and its height ranges from four to six feet. The Baron model costs $12 per linear foot.

AZ pool fences

Two of the AZ pool fences manufacturers are Pool Guard Inc. and Protect-A-Child Pool Fence Systems.

Pool Guard offers a wide range of fences and gates made of vinyl or plastic. Instead of using pickets, Pool Guard's unique fence system features wire mesh that encloses the pool. Matching gates are also for sale. These pool fences are also sold by section, and they cost $85 per section.

Protect-A-Child also offers a mesh-type fencing for swimming pools.  They are unique in that they are easily removable and can be installed for occasions when children play near the pool.  Specially constructed latches keep the fence panels in place. These fences cost $90 per panel.

Above ground swimming pool security fences

Above ground swimming pool security fences include locked gates for pool stairs that are made of steel or vinyl. Two of the manufacturers of above ground swimming pool security fences are All-Safe, Poolcenter.com, and Poolwarehouse.com. They all offer removable mesh-type fencing and self-locking latches. Poolcenter.com's pool fence model has poles that can withstand 200 pounds of pressure.  Poolwarehouse.com's BabyLoc latch comes with a five-year warranty. All-Safe's security fence model is easy to remove and install and uses tension to stay upright. They cost $85 per panel to $120 for fences that are six feet high.
